Michelle Bermudez

Teacher & Healer

Michelle is a natural empath whose beliefs are deeply rooted in the power of self healing. She started practicing Yoga in 2008 after having surgery that left her unable to walk for nearly three months. In 2011 she completed her 200 hour Yoga teacher training, but it would take some time and life experiences before she finally decided to pursue her dream as a healer.

In 2016, after a 15 year career in non-profit management, Michelle decided to donate her belongings and backpack through Southeast Asia to study and practice ancient healing arts. She studied Thai Yoga Therapy in Chiang Mai, Thailand where she learned about the power of healing through bodywork using energy lines. She is certified in traditional Thai massage, Ayurvedic Thai Massage and Herbal compression.

While traveling through India, Michelle studied Yin yoga with The Yoga People of London and gained an additional 100 teaching hours in Goa. She also spent her time with Ayurvedic doctors and practitioners, deepening her knowledge of Ayurveda, the oldest healing system. She is trained in reading doshas and working with people to increase their vitality through lifestyle habits and self care rituals. Michelle is also a Level 1 certified Reiki practitioner.

Michelle is humbled to return to D.C. to share her knowledge and help others heal so they may live to their truest potential.


Teaching Style

Michelle believes that teaching is truly one of life’s greatest blessings and is ecstatic to share her energy with the D.C. community.

Her classes offer students a safe environment where they are encouraged to explore the connection between mind, body and spirit with a sense of curiosity and playfulness. Students can expect an alignment focus class with various modifications to support each individual. Her classes often include breathing exercises, short meditations, and guided relaxation techniques. Be prepared for an intense yet compassionate practice, followed by a deep state of relaxation.

Yoga Inspiration

Michelle’s journey aspired her faith in humanity and basic goodness. It has served as a pillar to be more present, grateful and compassionate towards one other. She is continuously inspired by acts of kindness, children, and courage. Her classes are inspired by these principles and the teachers she is humbled to have trained and practiced with, Sri Dharma Mittra, Shiva Rea, Jamie Clark, Rusty Wells, Anna Forrest, and her mom who is a warrior of an autoimmune condition which affects her mobility.
