Know that God(dess) is your Life. God(dess) is sustaining you. If you look for employment to sustain you, you will always be a slave. Be free. Do as your intuition tells you. Always. It doesn’t matter what it looks like on the outside. Your intuition brought you here, it won’t fail you now. To be a grounded person - trust that intuition is part of being grounded. One and the same. You aren’t going to float off in the ether unemployed and homeless. Look at all that you have. Try gratitude. Look how protected you are, how provided for you are. All the joy that’s in your life. It’s...

My dear as we become more liberated in this life we do not stop feeling the emotions that we choose to label as bad. They are a part of life. They will happen but it’s how you respond in awareness that matters. We choose to numb instead of feel. Let’s move out of that space of disconnect and just feel the feelings whether good or bad. These labels don't exist, but only from us giving them. There is no good or bad, there just is. See what it feels like to be upset to be sad. What we want is to never have those feelings. We try to turn them off immediately with our drug/vice of choice. But...

It’s this fear that we have to release: the fear that holds you back from letting go of the financial stability or the familiarity, and diving into that world of doing the thing that you know intuitively—not in your logical mind but in your gut, in your heart, in your soul—that this is your calling, that is what you want to do. So what it comes down to is the fear, but the fear is really just a lack of trust. You have to take that knowledge, that deep knowledge in your gut, and know that it is beyond you. Whether you want to call it the universe or divine, your higher Self, your gut, your...

Deep Healing Yoga Nidra

The divine has a great sense of humor. When you tune in, you cannot stop yourself from smiling, from laughing. Everything is joyful when you are connected to the divine. So why take life so seriously? Every time you catch yourself going into a space of seriousness it’s you turning to your false sense of control and numbing out. To not be numb means to experience the ebbs and flows of life... just like the crashing of the waves in the ocean or the rising and setting of the sun. When you observe nature you can find the beauty. Can you begin to see your ebbs and flows with the same wonder?...

First you have understand that money is just energy and like anything else your thoughts can manifest your reality in this space as well. If you are fearful with money and not having any, you will not have any. BUT if you let go to the attachment and move money you will see that in order to receive money you must give money. Just like you cannot hold onto all the energy in your body and save up. You must constantly be flushing the body of old energy and replacing it with fresh energy. This is where the healing comes from. When you feel yourself attaching to it ask yourself the question...

If you are noticing that you are riding the wave of emotions and you are getting caught up in the crashes, ask yourself what is there to crash from? Clear and ground yourself, then ask what’s true right now? The awareness is the first step, it’s all a choice. Why are you identifying with a crash? It is because you can’t accept that the space of healing is a possible reality for you? What would it mean for you to be in that space all the time? It is possible to be grounded in the space of love and joy, choosing all of life to be the practice, the meditation and showing up for all life’s...

It's time to begin to step into truth more and more now and that means being really clear with your intentions. No more dragging your feet we don’t have time for this misalignment. Now is the time my dears to step into the power and own your decisions because it is what’s right and fair for people. No more feeling bad because other people are not adhering to the rules and assume they are the exception. That is not fair. You must be firm in your rules and boundaries. Remember people will push you to see how far you will go. It is time to honor those boundaries within your self and for...

Well it’s January 31st today. How is your resolution going? Going strong? Hit or miss? Unresolved? Resolution, what’s that? Whatever state you are in, it’s ok.

Take a moment to reflect on your resolution, if you made one, and take stock. Perhaps your resolution needs some tweaking. Making changes can be a challenging endeavor often laid low by trying to make too many changes at once. Some insight from the Yoga Sutras may be of assistance.

In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali wastes no time and comes right out and says it:

अथ योगानुशासनम् ॥१॥

योगश्चित्तवृत्तिनिरोधः...

We get a lot of messages from a lot of sources about who we’re supposed to be; we hear it from family, significant others, friends, employers, society at large, highfalutin' yoga instructors, etc. It can be a lot of expectations to live up to. Now don’t get me wrong, we all have responsibilities and things we must do, so please do not neglect your responsibilities. Perform your duties as only you can, not as anyone else, nor what anyone else, expects you to be. In the Baghadvad Gita, Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that it is preferable to perform one's own duty imperfectly than another’s duty...

"We’re all just walking each other home." - Ram Dass

Where is home? Ask my favorite front man and he’d say “[it] is where I want to be." Home is where we start, and it’s where we return to. It’s an origin, a baseline.

I think about home in this sense as a state. What is the natural, default state of nature, of reality, of God? Of anything? Of you? Undisturbed, unagitated. Unmitigated joy, bliss, happiness, and unconditional accepting love. It’s just a matter of remembering this truth.

The only to stimulate the...

If you follow us on Social Media you may have arrived here from our Wisdom Wednesday post. Our first few posts in this series were some amazingly powerful mantras. Shifting gears a bit we’ve decided to focus on some of our teachers - the faces you see on the wall as you walk up the stairs to the Shiva room. The first teacher we’ve decided to highlight is Ram Dass. You may know Ram Dass from a little book titled "Be Here Now."

The namesake of our studio, the phrase "be here now," is a great reminder to reside fully in the present moment. Through the teachings, guidance, and love of...

Fear is such an interesting thing. I still remember the first time I saw a clown and a deep-rooted, instinctual fear took over my body. It was at a farmer's market. My mother was buying Michigan blueberries (Michiganders will understand the distinction is important). And I ran to hide behind my mother's maxi skirted legs. While I have outgrown my fear of clowns in some ways (I still hold the belief clowning is an odd life choice), the feeling I experienced on that day is as real to me sitting here typing as it was in the moment.

I was discussing the fear of different poses with a...

I thrive on my personal pause and reflect moments. I find it so helpful to learn from actions I choose to take, whether they prove to be right or wrong. This particular moment is bittersweet as I enter my third trimester, and take a temporary break from teaching yoga on a regular basis. This post highlights why I made the decision to enroll in teacher training, how I will be taking my yoga teacher training lessons off the mat during my time off from teaching, along with my thoughts about letting go of things we find ourselves getting attached to.

You know I found yoga in a really rough time in my life many years ago when I was feeling empty and looking for something that I wasn’t quite sure of. I was never big into the exercise aspect of it, but more so the spiritual components. In fact, I was so emphatic about it and wanted it to be so pure in its transmission that I went to India and stayed in an ashram for some time to study the sacred teachings. As soon as I arrived in India, I felt at home, I was so drawn to the mantras that were being chanted and to the statues that honor these amazing deities who reveal their identity in all...

This past week Marco and I were able to get away to a family vacation. It was so wonderful being with all of his family and getting to know them more. I learned a lot about myself on this vacation. I recently re-read the book The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer with one of my clients. The focus of the book is about how to let go of things that bother us. The way we do that is by allowing things to pass through us. How? Well Michael says all you have to do is relax the shoulders, breathe, and remember that you are standing on a spot on...
