Shauna’s mindfulness training began 20 years ago. It all started when sun salutations were integrated into theater rehearsal at Andy’s Summer Playhouse in New Hampshire when she was in high school. Yoga is still an integral part of her life that she practices inside and out of the classroom. She continued learning to be grounded and present in her ten-year career as an actress in NYC where breath control, energy exchange and study of the human condition was an everyday exercise. In the particular acting technique Shauna used in performance, the emotions and relationships emerged out of the physical life of the character. This makes the choreographed physical life on stage captivating and interesting to watch because it is refined, creative and specific. Her time as an actress set the foundation for spatial awareness, intuition and physicality that she applies in her Thai yoga therapy work. She was grateful her Thai yoga therapy training always began with partner yoga! She originally discovered Thai “massage” while traveling in Thailand for a month in 2002 during her year living and working in Japan and she was back for more in 2011. She originally sought training in Thai yoga therapy to help a loved one with chronic pain but she was excited to also share her new talents as a healing artist with others once she realized the demand for this beautiful and effective practice.
